This event, which has been held annually since 1932, showcases Western heritage, features live music and other entertainment, and is an essential piece of educating the public on livestock, ranching, and wildlife. It also raises funds for ongoing educational support in our community—and we’re proud to support an organization that has granted over $575 million to Texas youth and education.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo: A Texas Tradition

The team at MaxHome is thrilled to contribute to The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, one of the greatest traditions in Texas. It is a family-friendly event that features hundreds of competitions and entertaining shows. Guests can attend various shows, competitions, and pre-event kickoff days, some of which include:

Go Texan Day

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo kicks off on Go Texan Day on Feb. 24, 2023. Encouraging cowboy attire and featuring live music, this event is an opportunity to celebrate Western heritage and connect with Rodeo volunteers. Guests can also see the Trail Rides and enjoy the Championship Bar-B-Que contest.

Downtown Rodeo Parade

On Feb. 25, 2023, visitors can attend an elaborate parade with marching bands, thousands riding horseback, and ornamental floats.

The World’s Largest Livestock Show

Since its inception in 1932, the Houston Livestock Show™ has recorded over 34,000 livestock and horse show entries, making it the leading livestock show in the world. This event provides the opportunity for anyone to exhibit their livestock and become a Houston Champion, from international competitors to Texans of all ages.

The Rodeo

The official sport of Texas! Experience exciting displays of roping, riding, and more. The rodeo has multiple events:

Agricultural Education Events

At AGVENTURE, both children and adults can learn about numerous species of livestock and interact with the animals. This area also features a petting zoo, horticulture education, pony rides, and more.

The Ranching & Wildlife Expo

This exposition develops programs to educate the public on the co-existence and conservation of wildlife habitats and ranching. Visitors can attend educational seminars and an auction for outdoor activities like camping, fishing, and hunting.

The three-week-long event takes place from Feb. 28 – March 19, 2023. In addition to the above shows and agricultural and livestock educational opportunities, guests can visit a wine garden, see live music, and enjoy a carnival with games, rides, and numerous food options. Attendees can also shop at over 300 vendor booths and meet others interested in wildlife and ranching.
