MaxHome – Making a Difference in New Orleans, LA, One Park at a Time
At MaxHome, we believe that giving back to the local New Orleans, Louisiana, community is as important as helping to improve the homes in the area with our home products. This is why we’re thrilled to be working with HandsOn New Orleans, a nonprofit organization that has completed more than 4,300 projects to date, to restore the gyms and playgrounds within the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department. And we can’t do this alone; we need your help!
Kenner Parks and Recreation
The Kenner Parks and Recreation facility was built in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina devastated our community. In the time since, it has served as a welcoming space for adults and children of all ages to come together, get outside, and stay active. Kenner has always maintained a top priority for providing first-class programs and safe recreation areas and is committed to building an environment that promotes unity and healthy living.
However, this facility now has deferred maintenance needs, which is why MaxHome has stepped in to help.
What This Project Entails
MaxHome will host all of the volunteers at one park location and they will be separated into groups to complete an array of projects. We’ll decide which projects our volunteers complete based on their interests, skills, and activity levels. We promise that this will be a fun and engaging event! Here are some of the different projects we will complete:
- Building picnic tables and benches
- Painting outdoor structures
- Restriping basketball courts
- Repainting backboards and attaching new nets for basketball hoops
